BERGER'S BITES BEGINS

Chef Eric has turned his passion for food into a business for the community.

The real beginning took place when he was 16 years old. Eric discovered his calling when he participated in a school program called "Cook for a Friend," providing meals to community members in need.

Fast forward two years, and he packed his bags, leaving his Northeast Philadelphia home, to attend Johnson and Wales University in Providence, RI. He earned an associate's degree in culinary arts (2001) and a bachelor's degree in food service management (2003).

Eric has worked in a variety of foodservice establishments, including hotels, casinos, restaurants, and country clubs, and has also managed foodservice and catering operations in higher education and corporate environments.  Eric holds a food safety manager certificate from the ServSafe Sanitation Program from the National Restaurant Association.

2020 brought a lot of terrible things to this world. But it also brought us Berger's Bites. Like many in the industry, Eric was laid off early during the pandemic. Not long after, he had the idea to sell fresh challah and pizza dough, as some ingredients were hard to find. He tapped into his sources and his community, and Berger's Bites was born. It didn't take long before customers were asking for more, and Chef Eric expanded to offer not just dough, but also soups, salads, entrees, dips, dressings and more.

All while juggling virtual school with his kids. Sound familiar? (Eric lives in Ambler with his wife and three children. His wife doesn't cook. Ever. But her marketing background makes her a critical part of this team. Clearly, she is writing this bio.)

At the heart of everything he does, is Chef Eric's attention to detail and exemplary customer service. Let him know what you'd like to see coming to your kitchen table next week!
